The Doctoral Colloquium is now incorporated into the Conference Program.
The PBFEAM Doctoral Colloquium is now merged with the PBFEAM 2008 Conference on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 July, 2008.
The aim of the Doctoral Colloquium is to provide an opportunity for doctoral students in all business disciplines to discuss their doctoral work-in-progress with leading scholars from the region and overseas, and share their research with peers. (Doctoral students will be required to have passed the confirmation stage of their program to be eligible to participate in the Colloquium.) The overall objective is to promote excellence in doctoral research throughout the Pacific Basin region.
Who should attend?
Doctoral students who have a well-defined research project and who are well advanced in formulating their research plans (passed the confirmation stage/progress report) will benefit from the Colloquium by receiving feedback on their research from the panel of scholars and peers, and are cordially invited to submit their paper for presentation. These candidates will be given feedback from their fellow candidates and from designated academic staff during the open discussions and question and answer sessions after each presentation. In addition, after the presentation, those candidates submitting research proposals will receive specific detailed comments from senior academic staff.
Students who are in the early stages of a doctoral program (pre-confirmation/progress report) and have not yet specified their own research plans are invited to observe the work of their peers and participate in feedback discussions. These students will benefit from the Colloquium by gaining a better understanding of what constitutes high quality doctoral research and by being exposed to a range of research questions and methodologies that relate to their own work.
Doctoral students unsure of their status with regard to their stage of research are invited to contact the Colloquium Chair at the address below to discuss the issue.
